Flood Perspective

As a storm moves through, how do we interpret the information that is out there? What is a flood of the century? I will try to point to where this information can be found and provide some tools to help put it in a more understandable context

This is intended to be an app that I will try to develop so we can all test our abilities to predict upcoming things that happen in nature while highlighting the information and tools that are out there to help in our predictions. (Please be patient on this one as I have never tried to build an app before so it will likely take some time)

About this Site

With the role of government being debated at a time where there appears to be an increasing skepticism over science, I thought it might be worthwhile to start a discussion on where to find observable science, how that data is used today to make decisions, and how government has played a role in that decision-making.  The hope is to find common ground on these topics through better understanding of the observable science that is out there while trying to avoid the political generalizations that sometimes just feel right.

I worked for the government for 9 years at the US Army Corps of Engineers and 16 years at the Federal Emergency Management Agency as a hydraulic engineer so my expertise was on reducing the impacts from flooding through a variety of measures as well as helping communities recover from natural disasters.

I have retired so nothing on this site should be taken as reflecting any federal agency policies or viewpoints.  The viewpoints and perspectives on this site are strictly my own and I hope that others will contribute here beyond my own limitations through an open and friendly dialogue.
